Loch Ness
Loch Ness is the one place all visitors to Inverness must go to. The stunning setting is amazingly close to the Highland capital. It stretches for 23 miles (37 km) along a natural geological cleft. It’s almost a mile wide in places and it contains the largest volume of water in the British Isles. It is most famous, of course, for being the home of the Loch Ness Monster. Frequent sightings of Nessie lend credence to the distinct possibility of a group of survivors of the long-extinct plesiosaurs. Even the most cynical of visitors will find themselves trying to catch a glimpse of the iconic beast.
While we can’t guarantee visitors will see the Loch Ness Monster… we can however guarantee you will love the scenery.
As a magnet for visitors, there are so many different interests around the Loch and ways to visit. You can drive, cycle, walk or cruise to Loch Ness.
While visiting Loch Ness, a meal at The Dores Inn, is highly recommended. May be worth booking in advance. That is their macaroni and cheese below. They do more sophisticated fayre too, and have a lovely selection of beers.
